Family Care Personal Attendants LLC not only provides quality care for seniors and adults with disabilities but for kids, as well. Our in-home care agency in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, offers the Children’s Choice Waiver, which is a waiver that offers supplemental support to children with developmental disabilities who currently live at home with their families or with a foster family 0 through 20 years of age.

One of the therapies supported by the Children’s Choice Waiver is music therapy. According to an NCBI report, “music is an effective tool in the promotion of communication and social skills among children with developmental disabilities, including those with and without ASD.”

Allowing children to enjoy the rhythmic movement of music is a fun way to develop gross motor skills such as mobility, agility, balance, and coordination. Additionally, music therapy provides psychological, social, and emotional benefits. Music may provide a distraction from physical discomfort or anxiety associated with physical, mental, or emotional disorders.

As such, if your little one is needing specialized care from the Children’s Choice Waiver, then we suggest getting in touch with our personal care services in Louisiana. Support services to be provided will be specified in the child’s Plan of Care (POC). The person-centered planning team, including support coordinators, service providers, family/guardians, and those who know the child best, develops this plan.
