The New Opportunities Waiver, or simply NOW, is a Medicaid Waiver designed to provide home and community-based supports and services to recipients with developmental disabilities. Eligible recipients must require the level of care of an intermediate care facility for people with intellectual disabilities (ICF/ID).

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, NOW focuses on the overall well-being of the recipient. Its mission is to improve their quality of life, support their dignity, and provide security in the community, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
